Thanks to your generous support, Development Alert was able to engage young people and community members in environmental conservation through tree planting and awareness activities.

Uganda's rural communities depend heavily on natural resources for farming, water, food, and livelihoods. Environmental degradation, deforestation, soil erosion, and changing weather patterns can therefore have serious consequences for families.

Development Alert has supported the planting of more than 14,000 trees as part of its broader environmental conservation efforts. Community members and young people have participated in planting activities and learned about the importance of protecting and caring for trees.

The initiative is helping young people see themselves as environmental stewards rather than passive observers of environmental challenges. Students and youth groups can carry conservation messages back to their families and communities.

Trees can provide shade, help protect soil, support biodiversity, improve local ecosystems, and contribute to climate resilience. Fruit trees can additionally provide food and potential future income.
