Thanks to your generous support, Development Alert has continued working with underserved rural communities to improve access to clean and safe water. For many families, a reliable water source is still a major challenge, particularly during dry seasons when existing water points become unreliable or break down.

Through our clean water intervention, we have supported communities by repairing damaged boreholes, assessing potential sites for new boreholes, mobilizing communities, and promoting proper water management. In previous interventions, repaired community boreholes have restored access to clean water for thousands of people across several villages.

The impact of clean water extends far beyond drinking. Families are able to cook safely, maintain better hygiene, wash their hands, and reduce their exposure to contaminated water. Children, especially girls, spend less time walking long distances to collect water and have more time for school. Women also have more time for farming, childcare, and income-generating activities.

Development Alert works closely with communities so that beneficiaries participate in protecting and maintaining their water sources. This community ownership is essential for sustainability.
