Thanks to your generous support, Development Alert was able to strengthen vocational and livelihood opportunities for young people and women in rural Uganda. Many community members have the determination to work but lack the practical skills, tools, or start-up resources required to establish sustainable sources of income.

Through this initiative, beneficiaries received practical skills training alongside entrepreneurship guidance, financial literacy, and mentorship. Participants were encouraged to identify opportunities within their communities and develop services or products that respond to local demand.

For some beneficiaries, training provided their first opportunity to acquire a marketable skill. For others, it helped transform an existing talent into a more organized business. Tailoring, small enterprise management, crafts, and other practical skills are creating new possibilities for self-employment.

The impact extends beyond individual beneficiaries. When one person establishes a sustainable livelihood, an entire household can benefit through improved access to food, education, healthcare, and other necessities. Successful entrepreneurs can also create opportunities for other community members.
