The introduction of a school lunch program at St. Bernard Mwenge Primary School has had a transformative impact on learning outcomes, school attendance, and overall enrollment growth. What began as a modest initiative to support learners has now become a key driver of educational success in the school.
Before the intervention, many pupils attended school on empty stomachs, which affected concentration, participation, and attendance. Hunger made it difficult for children to fully engage in learning, leading to lower retention and limited academic performance.
With the introduction of daily school meals, the situation has significantly improved. Children are now able to learn with improved focus, energy, and enthusiasm. Teachers have also reported increased participation and better classroom performance among pupils.
One of the most remarkable outcomes of this intervention has been the increase in enrollment. The school has grown from approximately 150 learners to over 500 learners within two years, reflecting growing community trust and the positive impact of the feeding program on retention and attendance.
Key Impact Highlights
This progress would not have been possible without the generous support of our beloved supporters. Your commitment has directly contributed to improving education and child well-being in this community.
However, the need remains. Many more children still require consistent school meals to stay healthy, focused, and in school.
We kindly invite you to continue supporting this initiative so that no child is forced to learn on an empty stomach. Together, we can continue feeding children and building a stronger foundation for their education and future.
