With Covid 19 it has been a big relief because pupils are not in school. This has given us an ample time to work on the school building where we can. The school have reopened but it is still good because only candidates are allowed to come to school.
Good news is that all the students will report on the 26th October 2020 and this is a very big relief to the children. Staying home for seven months has been not easy for them especially to those who depend on the meals served at school. Most ot the girls from poor families have gotten into early marriages ad early preganancies. This is because of the hardship at home, lack of sanitary towels and lotion for their bodies. However it will not be easy to Tumaini school because the classrooms are not yet complete.
Our school remain closed until we are able to comply with the Non-Negotiable Minimum Requirements for school physical re-opening. The conditions include: Providing children with information about how to protect themselves, promoting best handwashing and hygiene practices and providing hygiene supplies, cleaning and disinfecting school buildings and increasing airflow and ventilation. Tumaini Miles of Smiles School has been able to implement most measures. However, we risk failing to open schools on October 26, 2020 with other schools if we fail to ensure physical distancing. Our classrooms might not allow us to accommodate all the pupils if we are to keep the social distance. This is mandatory, as we are told its non negotiable.
Sharing with friends about us and the good work you are doing in the lives of needy children might make a difference. We know there are people who are willing to help but they want to know if their funds are well utilised. Tumaini Miles of smiles is the answer, but we cant know them if we are not introduced to them. Let us join hands, share our good cause and give our families, friends and our churches an opportunity to help Tumaini School. We need to finish the remaining 6 classes to comfortably accommodate all the students and putting all the measures in place.
We are grateful for all who have stood with us during this hardest times. It has not been easy for our organisation and our communities, but with your your prayers and support we are able to support where we can and put a smile on several faces.
