Todos Podemos seeks to help 25 women living in low-income neighborhoods of Medellin, Colombia follow their dream of starting a business. With your support, they will get 4 months of training and 6 months of mentoring. This will allow them to develop the necessary skills to build and sustain their own small businesses, while fulfilling their communities' needs. As a sponsor for one of these women, you will also be able to interact with them and become a source of motivation and knowledge!
Colombia has over 20 million working age women, of which only 44% earn an income. And those lucky ones make an average 17.5% less than men for the same work. Virtually all development and gender studies show that women tend to be better administrators and to contribute to the economic well-being of their families and communities way more than their male counterparts. We also know that half of them dream of starting a business, but most lack the support, knowledge and confidence to dare to try.
With your support, we will train a group of 25 highly motivated women. Through our social entrepreneurship program, they will learn how to provide products and services that help others while generating an income. Our 10-step model will teach them to turn their skills and aspirations into simple business models that also contribute to the social and environmental development of their community. In the process, they will acquire the soft skills and confidence needed to succeed and inspire others.
Since creating this program in 2017, over 80% of the entrepreneurs that we trained have been able to start selling their products and services within 3 months. With this project, 25 low-income women will ensure a livelihood for their families, provide goods & services that are missing in their communities, create jobs, protect the environment and serve as role models for others. The positive social and environmental impact of these entrepreneurs will improve over 2000 people's lives!
