Challenge

Child labor is illegal in India - yet, it continues to be a critical issue with over 33 million children, between the ages of 6 and 18 years of age, working as child laborers. We've all seen child labor in some form or the other in our day to day lives - be it at tea stalls, factories, or even as domestic help. Not only are these children deprived of the opportunity of going to school, but they are also vulnerable to abuse and exploitation.

Solution

CRY UK has been working relentlessly to ensure that children are protected from being exploited, enrolled in school and not deprived of the opportunity to chase their dreams. We do this by focusing on: Identifying and tracking potential cases of impending child labour Building awareness on the ill effects of child labour Ensuring that children are able to go back to school

Long-Term Impact

Children will grow in a protected environment and be aware of their rights. They will be in a position to help their peers and others in the community. By being rescued from labor and given an education, their poor health will improve and they will grow with confidence and hope of a better future.
