Amid the majestic mountains of Nepal, children living in poverty often struggle to stand. Every year 782 children in Nepal are born with clubfoot. Since the 2015 earthquake, 2,346 children were born with clubfoot and thousands more injured during the disaster. For the past 10 years, a team of fearless volunteers from the US have traveled to Nepal to bring their gift of healing. In one medical trip they can assess 70 patients, perform 55 surgical procedures on 20 patients. What an impact!
More than 2/3 of all children born with clubfoot deformity live in circumstances where they do not have access to specialized medical care. In Nepal, 732 children are born every year with clubfoot deformity. These deformities are painful and drastically limit the child's mobility and independence. With your support - HTC Volunteers will help 20 children stand on their own in April 2018. Imagine the joy for 20 children as they begin to walk on their own two feet for the very first time!
Our medical volunteers provide all their own expenses, take time off from work, leave their families, raise funds, and secure donated equipment and medical supplies to travel around the world to help heal children. Why? Because helping even one child matters. The ability to work alongside the doctors in Nepal and train them on new techniques to correct clubfoot at birth and provide surgery for up to 20 children each year matters. The joy in the eyes of the parents and the child - Priceless!
The goal of this volunteer medical team is to provide 20 children with foot & ankle surgery, post op support, and a set of crutches. The Nepal Orthopedic Hospital (NOH) was the only standing hospital post earthquake and continues to provide life changing surgeries. Thanks to our partnership in Nepal and training in"Ponseti" method we can now help correct clubfoot at birth. Our dedicated volunteers are passionate about this work and with your financial support it is all possible - Thank You!
