During this quarter under review, GLOWA’s project on formal education of children born of war made meaningful steps toward the formal education for children born of war in the North-West Region of Cameroon. A total of 95 children were enrolled in primary and secondary school tuition support program; 68 of them received full school kits including uniforms, books and writing materials. We established three peer-learning groups, fostering both academic support and psychosocial connection. Parent-teacher liaison meetings were held in four communities, strengthening engagement between caregivers, schools and project staff. Monitoring indicates that 82% of participating children attended at least 85% of classes. Challenges include intermittent school closures due to security concerns and delays in disbursement of transport subsidies. Next quarter we will expand to two more schools, provide digital learning tools (tablets/smartphones) to 40 children, and launch a mentorship program linking older students with younger learners to boost retention and performance.
