Funds raised through GlobalGiving support our general water fund, so we can use your gift where it's most needed. While we may not be assigning your donation to a specific project, rest assured 100% of what we receive will fund water projects in the areas of greatest need.

One of the countries your gift could go to is Nepal. Before they had access to clean water, families in the Ambote community had to rely on streams and springs located high in the mountains of Nepal. Not only did collecting water require difficult climbing, but the unprotected water sources were often the cause of illness for nearly everyone in the community.But not anymore.

Thanks to supporters like you, Gravity-Fed Systems deliver clean water from fresh mountaintop springs down to the homes in Ambote. And that clean water has transformed the health of the community!

The Ambote health clinic used to see 700 patients each month. Now, they see 60-65.

It means less typhoid, less dysentery, less diarrhea, and a lot less worry. In fact, there hasn’t been a single case of dehydration since they received clean water. All because of generous supporters like you.

Right now, you're helping to support our general water fund. For these gifts, we don't assign the funds to a specific project since construction in developing countries means dealing with many tricky variables -- supply price fluctuation, change of plans due to drills that don’t reach water, and other unpredictable challenges.

General water gifts allow us to remain efficient and flexible during the implementation process, so we can use your funds where they're really needed. Rest assured, 100% of the money received will help fund water project costs in one of the countries we work in!

One of the countries your gift could go to is Ethiopia. In 1990, Ethiopia emerged from civil war as one of the least developed and most impoverished countries in the world. Since then the country has made tremendous progress in fighting poverty, with the expansion of clean water sources serving as a major driver. In just over 20 years access to water has increased from less than 15% to nearly 50%. But as the second most populous country in Africa, there are still tens of millions of people who rely on dirty sources of water.

charity: water started working in Ethiopia in 2007. Since then, we've invested over $61 million in 6,945 projects that will bring 2,126,679 people clean water. And we want to show you exactly what that looks like.
