Foundation Karibu Tanzania (FKT) a Non Profit Organization based in Mwanza, operates the one and only Tanzanian rescue center for children who have been severely domestically abused and tortured. We rescue and provide medical and psycho-social care and eventually reintegrate the children back into their families of origin for a sustainable, but safe, solution. We seek financial aid to rescue and care for 60 severely domestically abused children who have nowhere else to go other than FKT.
Violence against children is prevalent in Mwanza. Children are not safe in their homes as family members and relatives harm them. Children are subjected to rape, sodomy, burning of some parts of their bodies, cuts, and inflicted with much physical and psychological pain. A lot of children have experienced child domestic violence in different forms in Tanzania. It is normally suggested that children who have been abused should be evacuated from the places where they were abused for their safety.
We operate A safe rescue center for children where we provide quality and adequate food, water and health services to rescued children. This helps to prevent social disability due to untreated injuries. We provide support to victims of child domestic violence and their perpetrators.
The project will reach out to 60 severely abused children and give them medical care that will prevent physical, mental and social disability and ensure they become productive members of the society later in their lives. Additionally 60 parents/guardians will also receive counseling sessions thus reducing the number of future potential abusers in the community. By counseling the abusers the organization will have contributed in creating a society where every child is protected.
