We are now exploring further extension of this solar electrification program for medical needs of IDP (internally displaced persons) in Burma.
Thanks to your support, this project has been successfully completed! The project team installed the systems and trained the local medics.
With the new electricity, they can use the lights that are built into the microscopes--making diagnosis easier.
They are also using the electricity to set up an eye lab and surgical unit. The 2 vaccine refrigerators, which were delivered just in the nick of time, will be the hub of a "cold chain" for vaccine delivery. With the new vaccine availability, they are starting an immunization training in January. They have designed a program to transport the vaccines between the two vaccine refrigerators and the more remote clinics which we have equipped with lights, but do not have enough electricity for refrigerators. Thanks for making this happen!
With the help of global giving donors like you, as well as a number of other donors, this project has been funded and the groundwork is now being laid out for the two clinics to receive solar energy by the end of 2007. We appreciate your support. If you are interested in other renewable energy projects taking place around the globe, please visit some of the other Green Empowerment project sites.
