Through leadership training, committees are formed to manage the agreed upon projects when a village partners with Shanta. The infrastructure committee is trained in depth on financial management. Transparency is vital for community trust, too. The committee presents budgets to the village, relying on full support from those living in the village as not only are they required to contribute financially, they also give time for labor to complete projects.
Attached is an example of a teacher housing project budget. The detail down to each nail is impressive. A recent blogpost tells the story of another infrastructure project and how a village member gained invaluable experience and confidence in managing such a project. https://shantavillagepartners.org/u-baus-journey/
We will share updates as the two teacher housing projects for FY26 near completion. Poor roads and political instability make commuting hazardous to impossible. Being able to provide teachers with stable housing in these rural villages is mandatory in keeping children in school.
Project reports on GlobalGiving are posted directly to globalgiving.org by Project Leaders as they are completed, generally every 3-4 months. To protect the integrity of these documents, GlobalGiving does not alter them; therefore you may find some language or formatting issues.
