This project will build a much needed community center for around 300 hundred children in an extremely depressed community of Nassau, Bahamas. Currently, we are raising funds towards its completion and operation of the center moving forward. The center will bring interesting programs, constructive activities, and new opportunities to educate and empower children, adults, and senior citizens in the community. The Center will feature 4-H hands on learning programming.
The challenges the community is facing: 1) Lack of constructive opportunities and activities for the youth 2) High rates of crime and violence among adolescents 3) Low exposure to and knowledge of foreign cultures 4) Low levels of education 5) Low family income levels
The community center will provide constructive activities and new opportunities for the youth and their families in the area. Through entrepreneurial and educational programs the children will supplement their education while also learning the skills and mindset necessary to succeed. Also, domestic and international student groups, charities, and individuals will be assisting us in our mission to positively impact the community.
In its first 3 years, the community center will positively impact the lives of over 300 children, adults, and senior citizens in this downtown Nassau community. The positive influence of the center's programs, role models, and safe learning environment will benefit the children and their families. Programming will be run using a 4-H model that features hands on learning programs run by local volunteers. There will be a special emphasis placed on educating and empowering young girls.
