GLOBALGIVING REPORT – OCTOBER 2025
HELP ALLEVIATE MISERY FOR ANIMALS IN CAPE TOWN
Dear TEARS Animal Rescue Supporters on the GlobalGiving Platform
The only way to help alleviate the problem of animal overpopulation is through sterilisation, which is key to reducing the numbers of unwanted, neglected, abused, and abandoned animals.
Since the inception of TEARS almost 27 years ago, our focus has been on the sterilisation of companion animals, a service we have offered at no cost to under-resourced communities in the areas we serve. This has certainly encouraged people to act responsibly and have their pets sterilised, as primary healthcare is included, but it does place a burden on our organisation to find the funding to cover our costs. We are therefore most grateful to the donors on the GlobalGiving Platform, and to GlobalGiving too, for supporting our efforts in providing a lifeline to needy companion animals and their owners.
Our partnership with AfriPaw, where we work closely with them in the impoverished communities of Vrygrond (Capricorn) and the surrounding areas, has been phenomenal in terms of the services we provide for the animals and the hope we bring to their owners. We are extremely proud of our close involvement with these communities, as we work tirelessly to provide support and care for their animals. (See attached document)
Coupled with the monthly pet clinics in Vrygrond are our weekly spay days, held in collaboration with AfriPaw. Animals are transported by our TEARS ambulances from Vrygrond (Capricorn) to our on-site clinic, where +50 animals are sterilised every week. Animals requiring veterinary attention or surgery are admitted to our hospital for treatment. The incredible success of the partnership between AfriPaw and TEARS is reflected in the attached document, where, between May and August, 772 companion animals were sterilised and received primary healthcare.
The level of care we can provide to our impoverished communities depends on the support we receive from our animal-loving followers, and we appeal to you to open your hearts and help us help those who have no voice.
With immense gratitude and heartfelt thanks for caring,
Warm regards
