ALERT is committed to continuing its conservation and research work in two large Zimbabwean National Parks and also to support the surrounding impoverished Communities. With the financial implications caused by Covid-19, we are only able to function at a very reduced level. We need staff out in the field to carry on with field work that both the Park Authority and Community depends on us for.
Our projects are located in isolated areas in Zimbabwe. We work closely with the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority and with the surrounding Communities. Both partners depend on ALERT for assistance but with Covid-19 we are financially unable to fulfill our obligations at this time although some staff are working for nothing in order to assist.
With supplementary funds to maintain the projects, ALERT will be able to continue field research and Community support.
Local people surrounding National Parks only tolerate wildlife that affect crops and livestock if they can get assistance from organizations like ours o mitigate effects. Our research and community work are important to maintain trust both with the wildlife authorities and with the local communities.
