Project Report: Building a Gender-Based Violence Rapid Response Center (GBVRRC) in RusapeOrganization: The Sustainable World Zimbabwe TrustReporting Period: June 2025Location: Rusape, Makoni District, Manicaland Province, ZimbabweProject OverviewThis project aims to establish a Gender-Based Violence Rapid Response Center (GBVRRC) in Rusape, Makoni District, to provide critical services such as counseling, rehabilitation, and skills development for adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) who are victims of rape, child marriages, sex trafficking, and forced marriages. The center will also offer training in soft skills, with a particular focus on STEM areas such as coding and G-Suite.Progress UpdateAs of this reporting period, the project has not yet received any donations. Despite the financial limitations, The Sustainable World Zimbabwe Trust has initiated early groundwork activities to prepare for full-scale implementation when funding becomes available. These include:- Stakeholder engagements with local leaders, schools, and women's networks in Makoni District.- Preliminary identification of a suitable location for the GBVRRC facility in Rusape.- Drafting of architectural and operational plans for the center.- Outreach to technical partners for STEM curriculum and counseling frameworks.ChallengesThe main challenge remains the lack of financial support, which limits our ability to begin construction or deliver services. Additionally, community demand for such a center is growing, increasing pressure to provide immediate support to victims who continue to suffer without proper services.Impact to DateThough no funds have been received yet, awareness of the GBVRRC initiative has begun to spread in the community. Through stakeholder discussions, community leaders and educators have expressed strong support for the project. These early engagements have laid the foundation for community ownership and future program sustainability.Next StepsPending financial support, the next immediate actions include:- Securing land and finalizing facility designs.- Recruiting volunteer counselors and trainers to develop the training curriculum.- Launching a low-cost community awareness campaign on the upcoming GBVRRC.- Formalizing partnerships with local STEM trainers and organizations that support women's rights.AppreciationWe express our sincere appreciation to everyone following and sharing this campaign. Your awareness and advocacy are invaluable in pushing forward the fight against Gender-Based Violence in Zimbabwe. We call upon donors, partners, and well-wishers to help us bring this vision to life. Together, we can build a safe and empowering space for the adolescent girls and young women of Makoni District.Total Funds Raised So Far: $0Funding Still Needed: $200,000
