We are supporting 500 vulnerable people and households affected by a prolonged dry spell and widespread crop losses in Nalubwoyo Sub-County, Amolatar District, Northern Uganda. Living Hope Community Initiative Africa will provide emergency food assistance, drought-tolerant seeds, climate-smart agriculture training, water and hygiene support, and livelihood opportunities for women and youth to help families survive the current crisis and rebuild resilient livelihoods.
Families in Nalubwoyo Sub-County depend heavily on agriculture for food and household income. A prolonged and severe dry spell has affected crop production, with many farmers reporting that their crops have dried up or failed because of inadequate rainfall. For families that depend on their harvest for both food and income, crop failure creates an immediate and serious problem. Households that expected to harvest food are now facing reduced food supplies and fewer opportunities to earn money.
Living Hope Community Initiative Africa will provide a combination of immediate assistance and longer-term recovery support. We will identify and prioritize the most vulnerable drought-affected households through community-based assessment and work with local community structures to ensure assistance reaches those who need it most. The project will provide: 1. Emergency food assistance We will provide essential food support to selected households experiencing serious food shortages.
This project is designed to help 500 families move beyond immediate crisis toward greater food security and resilience. Emergency food assistance will help vulnerable households meet immediate needs, while seeds and climate-smart agriculture training will help farmers restore food production. Women and youth livelihood activities will provide alternative sources of income so that households are not entirely dependent on rainfall-based agriculture.
