Challenge

Taking on a caring responsibility can consume all areas of a person's life. Unpaid carers make incredible sacrifices, often giving up work and friends to support the person they care for. Often taking on a caring role is unplanned and can remove carers from their support networks, careers and interests, forcing them to put their own ambitions on hold. Too often they forget that they have valuable skills and interests of their own, and become isolated in their community.

Solution

We provide carers with the opportunity to come together to enjoy experiences with each other. Carers spend most of their time focusing on the person they look after. We organise events and activities that allow carers to take a break and do something for themselves. Whether that is a trip to a local attraction, a chance to learn a new skill or an opportunity to socialise with fellow carers. With your help we can do more of these events and activities that make such a difference to carers' lives

Long-Term Impact

This project will help in developing a community of carers who are able to come together to share experiences with each other. Our experience of delivering this work has shown us that the true benefits extend beyond the specific event or training session, and contribute to carers having improved levels of wellbeing and confidence. Can you help carers come together to support each other?
