Update on the progress report on

By Samuel Akaraonye | Founder/CEO

This report provides an update on the progress of the Train 150 Youths in Vocational Skills in Nigeria project (ID: 54332). Our mission is to equip young people with practical vocational, entrepreneurial, and life skills that improve employability, foster self-reliance, and contribute to sustainable community development across Nigeria.

Although we did not receive external financial support during this reporting period, we remain committed to empowering young people through innovation, volunteer efforts, and the continued support of our social enterprise.

2. Appreciation to GlobalGiving

We sincerely appreciate GlobalGiving for providing a trusted platform that connects grassroots organizations with compassionate supporters around the world.

Although we have not yet received external donations for this project, we are grateful for the opportunity to share our vision globally. We remain optimistic that future partnerships and donor support will enable us to expand vocational training opportunities for young Nigerians.

3. Funding Status

During this reporting period, the project did not receive any external financial donations.

Despite this, we continued investing our own time, expertise, and limited resources through our social enterprise to sustain programme planning, youth engagement, skills development initiatives, and community outreach.

4. Project ActivitiesRevolutionizing Youth Empowerment in Nigeria (RYEN)

Our Revolutionizing Youth Empowerment in Nigeria (RYEN) programme continued to serve as a foundation for preparing young people with practical skills, entrepreneurial knowledge, leadership capacity, and innovation needed to succeed in today's economy. The programme promotes self-employment, creativity, problem-solving, and sustainable livelihoods.

Rural Youth Empowerment Network

Through the Rural Youth Empowerment Network, we continued engaging young people in rural communities by promoting inclusive access to vocational skills, entrepreneurship opportunities, mentorship, and community development initiatives. Our goal is to ensure that rural youth are not left behind in Nigeria's development journey.

Skills Development and Entrepreneurship

We continued developing training plans in areas such as food processing, agribusiness, renewable energy, environmental sustainability, digital innovation, and small business development to prepare participants for future implementation.

Food Innovation & Training Hub (FIT-Hub)

Through our Food Innovation & Training Hub (FIT-Hub), we continued promoting practical training in food innovation, food processing, nutrition, agribusiness, and entrepreneurship. These programmes are designed to create employment opportunities while strengthening local food systems and improving livelihoods.

5. Social Enterprise Support

Although external funding has not yet been received, our social enterprise continues to sustain this project through in-kind contributions, research, innovation, volunteer engagement, and programme development.

For the past three years, we have integrated community service with innovation by donating food during the pilot testing of our nutraceutical diet products and nutrient-dense fortified foods. These activities have supported vulnerable individuals while demonstrating our commitment to combining social impact with sustainable enterprise.

6. Estimated Impact

Despite limited financial resources, the project has continued to make encouraging progress.

Community Reach

  • Approximately 40–60 youths reached through vocational skills awareness, entrepreneurship education, and community engagement.
  • 20–30 rural youths engaged through RYEN and the Rural Youth Empowerment Network.
  • Increased awareness of self-employment opportunities, innovation, and vocational skills development.

Capacity Building

  • Continued development of vocational training curricula and entrepreneurship resources.
  • Strengthened youth interest in agribusiness, food innovation, renewable energy, environmental sustainability, and small business creation.

Innovation Progress

  • Expanded planning for future vocational training programmes through FIT-Hub, RYEN, and the Rural Youth Empowerment Network.

7. Challenges

The absence of external financial support continues to limit our ability to procure training equipment, expand vocational programmes, provide start-up toolkits, and reach more young people, particularly in underserved rural communities.

Additional funding will enable us to establish more training opportunities, strengthen mentorship programmes, and equip graduates with practical tools for self-employment.

8. Prospects and Future Plans

In the coming months, we aim to:

  • Launch comprehensive vocational skills training for 150 young people.
  • Expand the Revolutionizing Youth Empowerment in Nigeria (RYEN) programme.
  • Strengthen the Rural Youth Empowerment Network to reach more underserved communities.
  • Provide entrepreneurship mentoring and business development support.
  • Establish strategic partnerships with government agencies, technical institutions, private sector organizations, and development partners.
  • Equip trainees with practical skills in agribusiness, food innovation, renewable energy, environmental sustainability, and other income-generating vocational trades.

We remain confident that future donor support will enable us to transform the lives of hundreds of young Nigerians through sustainable skills development and economic empowerment.

9. Conclusion

Although we have not yet received external financial support for this project, our commitment to youth empowerment remains unwavering. Through RYEN, the Rural Youth Empowerment Network, FIT-Hub, and the continued support of our social enterprise, we are laying a strong foundation for equipping young people with the skills they need to build productive and self-reliant futures.

We sincerely thank GlobalGiving for providing this platform and look forward to partnering with donors who share our vision of empowering Nigeria's next generation through vocational education, entrepreneurship, and sustainable livelihoods.

With sincere gratitude,

Rosita Agomuo
