Back to school!

Libros para Todos did not take the summer off! Our team busily organized summer camps at three separate locations for 78 children. The children learned to play chess, make *mojigangas* and masks, read many books, and complete a variety of arts and crafts projects. We thank all of our volunteers and teachers!
We are beginning a new project and invite San Miguel residents with a passion for building community to join our volunteer team. Please email info@librosparatodos.com.mx if you would like to learn more.
Lastly, please mark your calendars for November 19. We will be hosting the celebrated author Juan Villoro in Dolores Hidalgo! One thousand children will receive his books this week in preparation.

Breaking a new record on Tuesday

Dear friends,
Thank you for continuing to support literacy in Mexico. Because of you, we have been able to achieve a huge feat: inviting more than 700 readers from a dozen communities to join us at the Angela Peralta Theater. They have spent the last month working with their teachers to read the newest book by Pedro Antonio García, Un Perro Libre. The author, García, and seven musicians will be coming to San Miguel to give these young readers this magical experience.
The team at LPT and the teachers from these 12 schools have worked very hard to make this happen, and they do so happily because we know it will create a positive and lasting impact on the lives of these young people, many of whom are traveling 30 to 60 minutes and have never been in a theater.
On behalf of this children, their parents and their teachers, THANK YOU! Please continue to help make these projects possible by spreading the word to your friends.

Teacher training in Dolores Hidalgo
Dear friends,
Thank you for your ongoing support of our community projects. We’re excited to share what’s ahead this spring and how your involvement makes a difference.
- We’re hosting TWO Big Reads — large-scale reading campaigns that bring students together around a single book and provide the rare opportunity to meet the author. In March, 600 children will meet Adolfo Córdova, and in June another 600 will meet Pedro Antonio Garcia. That's 1,200 children enrolled in the Big Reads this season!
- Our teacher training programs are in full swing in both San Miguel de Allende and Dolores Hidalgo. These workshops — now serving 45 educators — focus on best practices to help children fall in love with books and on techniques for engaging read-alouds.
- Our volunteers continue weekly visits to rural elementary schools, reading with children one-on-one and in small groups. We welcome committed, bilingual volunteers who live in San Miguel to join our Outreach Program and help expand this work. Email us to find out more!
Beginning March 17 and ending March 20, we will be doing our annual fundraising campaign; all donations up to $50 will be matched 50%. This is our only fundraising campaign of the year! Please, help us reach our goal so that we can reach all the children we hope to this year.
