Help 10 Girls Gain More Skill Trough Training

Dear Friend,

We are delighted to meet you again in this project report. 

We would like to inform you that the students in our Vocational Scholarship Program who got the training in the tourism area already started their practicum in mid-September. After a month of study in the classroom, the students go to the laboratory to practice. Those who took the training in food production go to the campus kitchen to cook.  Other students who get their training in food and beverage services practice in the campus restaurant. 

Practicing what they learned for the first time was quite challenging. They need to familiarise themself with the equipment and procedures. With guidance from their instructor, the students went through the practicum smoothly. 

Two of the students who get their training in food production, Dian and Serly shared their experiences during the practicum.

"Dian and I were from a vocational high school majoring in tourism. Although we got some basics in food production, we didn't focus on cooking. Our first days on campus were quite challenging because we needed to learn from the very basics. Sometimes we envied our friends who took food production at high school as they knew so many things in the kitchen. We studied very hard to catch up with the materials." Serly said. 

"The first day of the practicum was also challenging for us. Looking at our friends who are adept at using knives to cut the ingredients somehow made us a little bit inferior. However, the instructor helped us to use the utensils correctly.  We also learned a lot about making dishes. We can make the dish just as well as our friends. Now we enjoy the practicum very much and we can make a variety of dishes." Dian talked about her practicum experiences. 

 "We decided to learn food production even though we are from a different background. We think the skill in food production is very promising. The job opportunities in this field are still widely available, and the option to be an entrepreneur is also open. Obtaining the skills in food production will help us to achieve a better future." Serly talked about the reason behind their choice to study food production.

We are happy to e-meet you through the project report of our Vocational Scholarship Program.

Because of the generosity of our donors, YKIP can continue the educational support for the students who would like to obtain the specific skills for a better future. This year, we supported 15 students to continue their education for one-year training. 

Most of the students decided to study tourism-related subjects, while only two decided to take their training in administration and accounting. Among these students, 10 are females. YKIP is proud of the girls who chose to continue their education for another year in the vocational institutions. On the other hand, we are happy to inform you that all the students who started the training in 2023, already passed their final exam. Those who chose to be trained in tourism got their training for six months at campus and continued with training in the industry. Other students who attended school in administration got their training for 9 months at campus and the rest was at the industry. 

Some of the students who got the training in tourism even started to work in the hotel where they got their training. We are happy to see that their hard work are not in vain. 

All the achievements above are because of the support of our donors like you. Thank you for giving YKIP a chance to continue the vocational scholarship program and give the opportunity to more girl to get a skill for their future.
