Bhumi’s HELO (Holistic Education for Life Outcomes) program is a transformative initiative designed to equip underprivileged children with essential life skills. By employing a Whole School Approach (WSA), the program promotes self-awareness, social awareness, self-management, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. This initiative aims to ensure that children not only learn life skills but also actively apply them in real-world scenarios, laying the groundwork for expanded impact in schools.
From April to June 2024, the program made significant strides. A total of 100 teachers were engaged in the Summer Well-being Session, aimed at enhancing their capacity to support students' emotional and social needs. Needs assessments were completed in 50% of new schools to identify critical areas for intervention.
In addition, 66 School Transformation Program (STP) trainers participated in Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) workshops, equipping them with essential tools to foster a positive learning environment. Bhumi partnered with "A Creative Pause" to develop a middle school SEL curriculum and launched digital resources like short videos to engage parents via WhatsApp.
Bhumi also collaborated with "Safe Schools" to implement safety committees and policies across WSTP schools, ensuring safer learning environments. Additionally, 4-5 SEL training sessions were facilitated in Basecamp for the 2024 cohort of fellows, preparing them to drive the program's mission forward.
The HELO program continues to create a lasting impact, offering children the life skills necessary to navigate their academic and personal lives, thereby fostering a generation of confident and responsible individuals.
