Dear donor,
Thank you for your collaboration! It is essential that we create healthy places for our Dara families to live.
One of the families impacted by our housing project has been Talyson’s. He was born in March of 2010 and when he was still an infant, he was diagnosed with autism. Despite the fact he was always a healthy child, at just 11 years old he suffered his first convulsion and was rushed to the hospital. His family was soon informed that his condition was more serious than they previously believed: he has encephalopathy and was in a coma with no prospects of being released anytime soon. As time went on, his convulsions got worse and despite the doctors doing everything in their power to help, he's still in critical condition.
The complexity of Talyson’s case worries his entire family, especially his mother, Vanuza, who is tirelessly at his side.
They are all physically and emotionally drained from their comings and goings to and from the hospital. Ever since Talyson was hospitalized, Vanuza has experienced spikes in her pressure and has needed to be medicated and visit a psychologist due to her increased levels of anxiety.
Recently, the doctors that tend to Talyson have begun thinking of releasing him into home care. However, for this to become a possibility, his house needs to undergo preparations and changes to make absolutely sure that all the medical equipment that keeps him alive works, like his assisted ventilation.
With the support of our team of architects, we’ve been able to redo the house’s electrical network and adapt the bathrooms and rooms in the house so he can manage being at home safely with his home care.
Here at Dara, Vanuza has also counted on lawyers in requesting home care with the government and is hopeful that soon her family will be together again.
All of this is only possible because of your help, thank you!
Keep helping us and together we can change more lives.
Best wishes,
The Dara Team
