Each December, we share joy of the season with our students and their families by delivering a holiday meal basket (canasta navideña) to every home. These special baskets include a live chicken, rice, beans, grains, onions, garlic, tomatoes, guajillo chiles, achiote, and other spices—everything needed for a traditional and nourishing holiday feast.
In early December, our Maya Jaguar teachers and staff delivered these baskets to 115 families in five villages where our students live. Thanks to our donors' kindness, each family was able to celebrate with their favorite holiday meal, including chicken tamales, rice, beans, and other essentials. Despite the rainy weather, two teams of Maya Jaguar staff delivered every basket and were greeted with smiles, gratitude, and joy.
This gift does more than brighten the holidays. It directly helps combat chronic malnutrition and eases food scarcity in this underserved region of western Guatemala.
