Greetings friends:
Yesterday we completed the military study to show the need for protein in the diets of the men and women who serve. We observed that they only receive about 9 gms of protein daily in the food provided. In attendance of the ceremony was the base major and a lieutenant that we have been working with at the smaller base; also the chaplan and about 20 men and women who serve in the military.
After the welcome, I thanked the participants and our Honduran MD did the presentation to show the improvemnts in running, push ups, sit ups and the obstacle course and the differences in protein group vs non protein were discussed. We also expressed our gratitude to the men and women at the Mole base that helped us with repairs of the obstacle course. Also a truck load of men from the Honduras Project assisted that often partner with the clinic for construction projects. Awards were given to the top 3 participants in the program.
We are hopeful that this has opened their eyes to the need of protein in a severely lacking diet, mostly consisting of carbohydrates. The government is aware of the lack in their diets. Also that this will encourage the men and women to work harder to continue to progress towards excellence.
In the future we are helpful that there will be other ways we can help these men and women who serve.
Gratefully yours,
