Your Support at Work: Helping Youth and Families

This fund exists for families who cannot afford funds to cover essential outpatient medical treatment. Thanks to your generous donations, we have been able to cover outpatient medical care and prescribed medications for those who need it most.

So far this year, the Health Fund has supported seven medical treatments; two for parents and five for youth scholars.

These include support for youth scholars injured in accidents, including one struck by a vehicle and another injured at school, treatment for chronic conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure, treatment for infections, and gynecological care.

The establishment of the Health Fund this year is without a doubt contributing to the wellbeing of the young people who are part of our youth program, as well as their families. While resources are limited and we cannot assist every case, priority is given to those in the most serious situations and greatest need.  As the fund increases, it enables us to extend this support to more people within our community.

Our partnership with Betania Hospital in Cobán helps by providing medical care at reduced rates, and often free medication or lab tests when costs exceed our fund’s capacity, ensuring no one is left without care.

Thank you for helping youth scholars and their families stay healthy, focus on education, and build brighter futures.

Voices of Thanks:
"Thank you for the support provided and for always looking out for my son at all times. On the day he had the accident, we had only Q200 ($25) and no way to pay for the doctor. They are like family to us.  His parents could not cover the medical expenses because his father works as a bus driver with limited income, in addition to having to make monthly extortion payments - a  common reality for bus drivers and companies in Guatemala.

"Thank you very much for the support so my daughter can see a gynecologist. Her father’s income as a bricklayer only covers food, and your support helps her stay well."
