Health care for 3000 low-income workers in Vietnam

Although all work has been prepared for Phase 5 of the project can be implemented in early March in either Bac Ninh or Bac Giang provinces, however, due to the re-emergence of the Covid-19 epidemic, especially in the industrial zones of these two provinces, the project had to delay the restart date. 

In Phase 5, the project continues to have the support of institutional sponsors such as DKT International, Golden Choice Company, Hoa Linh Pharmaceutical Company and TH Group. In addition, for the first time, the Dalat Milk brand has officially accompanied the project. 

According to the plan agreed by For Vietnamese Stature Foundation with donors, in addition to activities like the previous phase, Phase 5 will have more communication activities for junior high school pupils (who are children of employees) on personal hygiene, and re-launching mobile reproductive health examination and counseling after a one-year pause. 

Regarding fundraising for the project through GlobalGiving, during this reporting period we received 5 donations totaling $458.09 from individuals. We hope that the Covid-19 epidemic will soon be under control so that we can soon launch the project activities to be able to disburse the funds of the donors.

The last activity of phase 4 of the project was implemented on November 16, 2020. It is a knowledge contest and also a conference to summarize the project.

Thus, after 9 months of implementation, phase 4 of the project has reached 3,698 turns of workers in 14 different companies through a two-day training course, 20 communications sessions and a knowledge contest.

In addition, as of November 2020, there were also more than 10,000 downloads of the contraceptive support and reproductive health care application called 'Tranh thai NewChoice'.

Surveying of workers attending the communications sessions shows that workers were able to answer 95% of questions relating to health care after hearing counselling from experts. Before the project, the rate was only about 50%.

Sharing about the results of the project, Ms. Pham Hai Yen, Chairwoman of Hai Phong City Women's Union (project implementing partner) said that ‘the presentation method of the project's experts is very light, fun and easy to understand and inspires workers to follow. Thanks to that, the project has also achieved its communication target. We hope that the For Vietnamese Stature Foundation (VSF) will continue to exploit resources and provide technology for the project to continue implementing the next phases in collaboration with the Hai Phong City Women's Union’.

In 2021, VSF will continue to implement the 5th phase of the project in one of the provinces with many industrial zones and workers in the North. VSF hopes to receive the companionship of the donors to have more resources to implement the project.

Regarding project fundraising through GlobalGiving, for the reporting period we received a $ 50 grant from an individual.
