Active companions

The young children who attend the markets as "companions" are more than that, they actively participate in the life of the space, of their position, of their family; For this reason, we keep the early childhood space active in public markets.

We carry out fine and gross motor activities that help with basic stimulation, due to the fact that the pre-school education centers are kept closed and there is no place for recreation and learning.

Our approach to working with children is through Popular Education, which is based on the premise that “teaching is not transferring knowledge, but creating possibilities for its production or construction”. For this reason, we believe that from a young age, playful activities build meaningful experiences and meeting spaces for children accompanying the markets

The situation of the cOVID-19 pandemic does not make it clear when they will return to face-to-face classes, education continues to be distance education and the educational gap is growing, the challenge we are to face in the following months is to know how many children going back to school?

During work, we promote improved nutrition through the delivery of snacks to all attendees, teaching the importance of balanced nutrition.

At Melel we know that we are going to have to redouble our efforts so that working children, when the time comes, go back to school.

Thank you for continuing to provide opportunities for the children of Chiapas.
