The “Healing Hearts” project has made further progress in addressing the mental health needs of women affected by conflict and hardship in Bardiya. This project has now expanded to include members from LGBTQI+ communities with much-needed mental health support. From April to July 2026, we conducted four trauma-informed group counseling sessions and two community awareness meetings, directly supporting 35 women and LGBTQI+ communities.
Sessions focused on emotional healing, stress management, and reducing stigma around mental health. Local female facilitators continued to play a central role in creating safe and culturally appropriate spaces.
Cumulative Impact (up to July 2026):
Participants report feeling less isolated and more able to support one another. Despite limited funding in this sector, the Women Welfare Foundation remains dedicated to expanding access to mental health care for women in rural Nepal. We are grateful to our facilitators, partners, and donors for enabling this continued work.
