In Dar es Salaam, children with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus face life-threatening infections and social isolation. Families living below $2/day cannot afford surgeries or medical diapers, often relying on rags that cause kidney failure. This project will provide 300 children with National Health Insurance's coverage and medical supplies. By removing financial barriers, we will enable life-saving care, eliminate "the scent of poverty," and ensure these vulnerable children survive and thrive.
In Dar es Salaam, children with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus face a dire crisis. Without health insurance (NHIF), families living on $2/day cannot afford surgeries or medical diapers. This leads to physical decay, kidney failure, and life-threatening UTIs. Beyond the pain, the "scent of poverty" from incontinence causes social isolation. With 80% suffering lifelong incontinence and 60% facing infections from using rags, these children are trapped by a lack of financial walls.
This project will provide 300 children with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus in Dar es Salaam with life-saving Nation Health Insurance coverage. The insurance will remove financial walls for surgeries and clinical care. We will also supply medical diapers to combat "the scent of poverty," preventing kidney failure and UTIs caused by using rags. This dual approach will ensure medical access for families living below $2/day, and protects these vulnerable children from social isolation.
Over the years, this project will transform the lives of 300 children with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus in Dar es Salaam. Children will gain access to life-saving surgeries and clinical care, prevent UTIs and kidney failure, and overcome social isolation. Families living below $2/day will experience reduced financial burden, while children regain dignity, health, and social inclusion.
