Happy Learners Project Complete!

By Nkem Akinsoto and Roberts Ukaigweh | Project Leads

Dear donors,

I hope this letter meets you well. It is my pleasure to inform you that the implementation of handwashing and hygiene education tagged the Happy Learners project for children in Kaduna state primary schools has been successfully completed!

There were some hiccups, since beginning in February 2019, but the Kaduna team persisted and emerged victorious. The project ended up lasting a total of 10 months instead of 6 months but they have now covered 5 local government areas (Kaduna South, Igabi, Chikun, Zaria and Kaduna North), and impacted over 2000 children and 105 teachers (at least 50 of these teachers have been enrolled as sustainability partners).

In the last phase of the project to Kaduna South, below are the details;

Name of Schools:
C.A.C SCHOOL, CHRIST SUPREME SCHOOLS, HEYIK INTL SCHOOL, SAFEWAY INTL SCHOOL, TRIUMPH INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL.
Date: 10-11/10/19
Time: 9am-12pm daily

Estimate Number of Students and Teachers Impacted-
400 Pupils and over 25 Teachers

Key Lessons Learnt:
During the Session we observed that the Pupils were quite intelligent and basically took down notes of our activities.

Challenges:
It was quite difficult locating the school due to its location however we eventually did.
Some of the schools do not have hall, we had to use their play ground as alternative.

Quotes from Students/Teachers:
“Thank you for teaching us the Hand washing” - Adensanya T

Thank you all once again for coming with us on this journey. We couldn't have done it without you!

Warmest regards,
