Global demand for diverse, skilled STEAM professionals is critical, yet pipeline lacks diversity. In Ghana, only 39% pursue Science programs at the tertiary level missing the 60% target. Limited access to practical STEAM resources leads to declining interest. To bridge this gap, we aim to set-up a STEAM Lab in a deprived school to promote hands-on experience for 500 young learners to ignite their interest and empower them to explore STEAM careers and view them as tools for community development
The global demand for diverse and skilled STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) professionals is critical for addressing pressing challenges. However, the current STEAM pipeline is insufficient and lacks diversity. In Ghana, this issue is particularly acute, with only 39% of students admitted into Science-related programs at public universities, falling short of the mandatory 60% set by the Ministry of Education.
Our program aims to establish a transformative learning platform that nurtures real-world problem-solving skills and inspires underrepresented students to explore STEAM careers. Through authentic global experiences, we will empower 500 students to view STEAM as a catalyst for community development and innovation. Objectives: Establish a STEAM laboratory in an underserved school lacking access to essential STEAM tools and equipment, enabling interactive and engaging classroom sessions.
Impact: By providing access to practical STEAM education resources and empowering students to embrace STEAM as a driver of positive change, this initiative seeks to: Inspire a new generation of diverse and skilled STEAM professionals. Cultivate innovation, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills among Ghana's youth. Bridge the gap in STEAM education and contribute to a more inclusive and prosperous future for all.
