Challenge

In Mexico, childhood cancer remains one of the leading causes of death by disease among children and adolescents. Every year, thousands of families face not only the emotional impact of a cancer diagnosis, but also overwhelming financial and social challenges. Many children receiving treatment must travel long distances to specialized hospitals in Mexico City, forcing families to leave their jobs, homes, and support networks behind.

Solution

This project will provide comprehensive support to children and adolescents with cancer receiving care through Casa de la Amistad para Ninos con Cancer

Long-Term Impact

This project will improve the long-term survival and quality of life of children and adolescents with cancer in Mexico by ensuring they can complete their medical treatment without interruption. By reducing financial barriers related to transportation, lodging, medical studies, and supportive care, more children from low-income families will have access to timely and comprehensive cancer treatment. Over time, the project will help decrease treatment abandonment rates and improve health outcomes
