Dear Supporter,
The overall objective of the Global Education Drive was to work towards improving educational facilities at GVI hubs in Cape Town, Thailand and Costa Rica.
We have allocated and used all of your generous donations on our three different sites and we have seen tangible improvements at the schools and in the communities where the schools are located. Our partners have now decided to suspend the project for 2015.
In Thailand, at our Phang Nga hub, we helped renovate a playroom and a physiotherapy room at the Non-Formal Education Centre (NEC). This has helped create a stimulating and colourful environment for the children, all of whom have special needs.
In Cape Town we had a group of volunteers walk from Cape Point to Table Mountain to raise funds to contribute towards the improvements of Mama Lumka's Educare Centre. This extension has helped create a larger and more practical classroom space. The building and kitting out of this project involved volunteers, who decorated and created recycled recourses for the classroom, as well as employing local builders, electricians and plumbers.
In Costa Rica we helped construct a better educational environment for the pre-school children. It allowed the school to increase its capacity so that more children can get the education that they deserve. It has united the community through education and facilitated a brighter future for the children living there.
We thank you for your support on this project.
Best Wishes,
GVI Charitable Trust
