Kerala is facing the worst floods in 100 years with dams opened and all rivers in spate. Heavy rains continue and over one million people have now sheltered in around 3000 relief camps, 50,000 houses have been destroyed, and more than 410 people have lost their lives in what could be said as the worst monsoon in nearly a century!
Kerala has seen the worst flooding in over 100 years. Locals have left their homes and taken shelter in nearby relief shelters. Communities have been destroyed and people left without anything and it is time for them to focus on rebuilding the communities and lives after such a devastating time.
Our local team in Kerala are working with the Chief Ministers fund and we are supporting the funding of rebuilding three local communities in Kochi, Paravur and Chalakudy. We will work with the locals affected on the ground to support them to rebuild their homes and lives post this disaster
We will work long-term with the individuals affected by the floods to ensure we support them to get their lives back on track and have access to safe water, a new home and other essential resources.
