Sunday June 3rd there was one of the most violent volcanic eruptions in decades in Guatemala. Fuego Volcano has affected thousands of people in the surrounding area, more than 3,265 people have been evacuated from their homes. Now is the time to help the people that have lost everything.
After the eruptions of the volcano, nearby villages got destroyed and thousands of people have been evacuated. Affected families now have lost everything they had, including their home and even family members. Helping these communities with supplies and housing is urgent and calls for action now!
With your support we will send out a team and help the families in the affected areas with needed supplies and infrastructure. When we reach our goal we will provide more than just food, clothes and hygiene products. Long Way Home has been local green building experts for the last decade here in Guatemala. We want to support these families by building earthquake resistant homes and improving infrastructure.
We believe that providing much needed supplies and infrastructure will help these families resist after effects from the volcano such as earthquakes. As well as not just giving them temporary shelter, but a home that will withstand for years to come.
