Ecological Stoves for Families Update

By Lamia Lahrech | Executive Director

 Objective

The ecological stove project seeks to improve the quality of life of families in the beneficiary communities through awareness workshops and the donation of ecological stoves.

Description

The project involves organizing awareness workshops on the health, economic and ecological benefits of ecological stoves and delivering them to vulnerable families. The ecological stoves are designed to reduce the emission of toxic smoke, improve fuel efficiency and reduce environmental impact.

Benefits

  • Visual and Respiratory Health
  • Reduction of respiratory diseases: By reducing the emission of smoke and toxic particles.
  • Improved visual health: Reduction of eye irritation caused by smoke.
  • Economical
  • Fuel savings: Ecological stoves are more efficient and require less firewood.
  • Lower medical expenses: By improving health, the need for medical care is reduced.
  • More time for productive family activities.

Ecological

  • Decreased deforestation: Reduced use of firewood contributes to forest conservation.
  • Reduction of CO2 emissions: Helps mitigate climate change.

Project Implementation

The project for ecological stoves for Guatemalan families began in mid-June with planning, design, studies and testing.

The construction process has been a success, thanks to the commitment of Edwin, an experienced person specialized in the design and construction of ecological stoves and passionate about caring for the environment.

What characterizes GB is its holistic approach in each activity or service it offers, so this project is no exception.

  • In each of our workshops we make an important space for collective meditation.
  • Community involvement in all stages of planning and implementation.
  • The ecological awareness workshop focuses on raising awareness among participants based on the 4Rs of Ecology: Reduce, Recycle, Reuse and above all Respect and love for Mother Earth, the result of which is well-being and balance that favors health, the economy and individual and collective ecology.

Donation of stoves

To date, 70% of ecological stoves have been delivered to families, providing them with a sustainable and effective solution.

Conclusion

The eco-stove project has had a positive impact on the health, economy and ecology of the beneficiary communities. Awareness and donation of eco-stoves have not only improved the quality of life of families but have also contributed to the preservation of the environment.
