Slow and steady, along with perserverance, determination and dedication are how we would describe our local farmers. They have been working diligently to clean up their farms, replant and recover from devasting effects of Super Typhoon Mawar that hit Guam on May 24, 2023.
Our farmers couldn't have recovered as well or as quickly without the outstanding community support that defines Guam's culture so well. The compassion and generosity of people from throughout the U.S. has enabled Guahan Sustainable Culture to assist our farmers when they needed it the most.
Since Super Typhoon Mawar, Guahan Sustainable Culture has been able to provide our local farmers with assistance in the form of microgrants, technical support and knowledgeable staff to help them apply for the various disaster recovery programs that became available in response to the storm.
After months of patiently waiting to see the results of their replanting efforts, our farmers were able to harvest produce in early September.
