Dear Friends,
We are less than two weeks away from our first LEAD class of the summer and we’re very excited about the future environmental leaders who will enter our LEADership center that Monday. While we have a couple returning students, who want to complete their education from last year, we’re super happy to see that more and more young people are interested in learning how to manage and lead environmental projects, plant and care for trees or speak in public. Our youngest student isn’t even 10 yet!
In the past couple months, our trees have suffered from a heat wave and very strong winds, but 75 of our volunteers gathered last month for "Big Sunday" to fix them and they are now back on their roots, looking beautiful. Once again that day of tree care was entirely planned and managed by our Youth Managers, and youth planting supervisors and community service volunteers were instrumental in making it a success.
We are so grateful for the wonderful support we get from the GlobalGiving community. Today is actually a very special day on GlobalGiving as starting at 9am PST we are eligible for matching grants from Microsoft Youth Spark program: for each donation you make in the next few hours, we will receive double the amount. Please consider giving on our Project page now to sustain our efforts to empower young people to be environmental leaders.
Thank you for everything you do for our young leaders and trees!
