While global warming directly impacts our youth's future, young people rarely have a say in finding a way out. Tree Musketeers is a youth-led organization that empowers kids to take the lead and work toward a greener future. In a year, this project will benefit 50 young people, some of them at-risk youth, and 1,800 trees that will be planted and/or cared for.
This project works in three ways: it will provide training in life and professional skills for 50 young people; increase youth engagement to 200 to plant and care for our pollution barrier in South Bay Los Angeles; and provide enriching community service opportunities for 30 at-risk youth. LEADership courses include Personal, People and Management skills, Public Speaking and Tree Planting Supervisor Training. Tree Musketeers is currently responsible for the healthy lives of 1,800 local trees.
This project creates a generation of environmental leaders, dedicated to building a greener Earth. Many alumni of Tree Musketeers' programs have moved on to become leaders in their community, at-risk youth have regained self-confidence and were empowered to be productive members of society.
The 1,800 local trees in the care of Tree Musketeers at maturity will remove 88 tons of pollution from the air each year.
