From September 5, 2023, in the jubilant atmosphere of the new school year, all 209 preschool students at 5 school sites Na O, Khau Noong (Thach Lam Kindergarten) and Ban La, Khau De, Sang Xoay (Thai Son Kindergarten), Bao Lam district, Cao Bang province have received daily lunches and snacks with a balanced menu to ensure nutrition.
With only 1,700,000 VND/year/student (Equivalent to USD 75/student/school year), all the students will receive warm boarding meals throughout the school year, helping them improve their physical health, thereby contributing to reducing the rate of malnutrition and encouraging children to go to school every day.
In the third quarter of 2023, we have received love and support from over 20 donors, including donors Mai Nguyen, Deane Morgan, and Barbra Long, who have continuously supported the project. On behalf of 209 students of “Growing up with mountainous preschool students” this year, we are extremely appreciative and grateful to you.
The radiance on the children's faces and the happiness of their teachers and parents are the motivation for VSF to continue implementing and expanding the project in Cao Bang and other localities.

For Vietnamese Stature Foundation (VSF) would like to sincerely thank you for accompanying the project “Growing up with mountainous preschool students” in its third year launching in Bao Lam district, Cao Bang province.
In this school year 2022 - 2023, more than 70,000 nutritious meals (including lunch and snacks) were given to 195 students at 5 school sites: Na O and Khau Noong (Thach Lam Kindergarten), Ban La, Khau De and Sang Xoay (Thai Son Kindergarten), Bao Lam district, Cao Bang province.
Daily warm and varied meals help children make significant improvements in both physical and mental health. On average, each child increased 8,1 cm height and gained 3,1 kg weight, compared to the beginning of the school year. Regular attendance also helps them to be more active and confident when communicating with teachers and friends. To us and also to their parents, this is an amazing result.
From 25th to 27th of May, VSF organized a charity trip "Sunshine in Pac Miau" for sponsors and volunteers to visit and give gifts to children. All 195 gift sets, each including a backpack, an umbrella and cakes, candies and milk were carefully packed and delivered to the children. At the meeting, the volunteers had the opportunity to interact with the students, listen to them read poems, sing and dance, and play games with them.
N.M.A - the volunteer of this trip shared: “I was very touched when I witnessed the strength of both teachers and students here. I want to spread my help to the teachers and students to motivate them to go to school every day.”

For Vietnamese Stature Foundation (VSF) is pleased to announce that we have successfully raised more than $14,600 to sponsor semi-boarding meals for preschool children in Cao Bang within just one month. With the money coming from 120 individual sponsors and units (including the money from GlobalGiving), we will bring 72,000 semi-boarding meals to ethnic minority preschool students in Bao Lam district, Cao Bang in the school year 2022 - 2023.
In the first term of this school year, 202 students at 5 school sites Na O, Khau Noong (Thach Lam preschool), Ban La, Sang Xoay, Khau De (Thai Son preschool) were provided more than 35,000 hot nutritious meals every school day. Besides, students also had snacks (normally noodles, porridge, rice noodle) in the afternoon. Thanks to the daily meals, students attended school regularly and had good physical development index (both weight and height gain). To us and also to their parents, this is an amazing result.
"After the lesson, our children often excitedly talk about their school meals, how they learned to sing and played games in class and outdoors." - Mr. VAS - the father of two children: VTGL (5 years old) and VTKX (4 years old) - shared happily.
In order to bring the children nutritious meals, the teachers and the cooks worked very hard. Sometimes, the school site lacked clean water, so the cook had to go back to her house again and again to bring water to school. Sometimes, the cook has to bring dry corn to cook as there is no firewood available on the hill. Despite the difficulties, the cooks always try their best to give the children a good environment to study and grow up.

The joy of school attendance comes not only from the new knowledge but also from the warm meals from the project “Growing up with mountainous preschool students”, which has been implemented by For Vietnamese Stature Foundation (VSF) for the third consecutive year in Bao Lam district, Cao Bang province.
Thanks to the generosity of sponsors, nutritious meals will be provided to students in the school year 2022-2023. With VND 1.7 million/student/school year (Equivalent to USD 75/student/school year), all students will have hearty lunches with minced pork, eggs, vegetables, etc., and afternoon snacks with a variety of dishes (like porridge, noodles) on a daily basis. All food and the cooking process for the children ensure food safety and hygiene.
Seeing the bright smiles of the children, teachers and parents at the school sites also feel the happiness. The bright smiles are not only the promise of a meaningful new school year, but also the hope for the "Growing up with mountainous preschool students” project of VSF.

As May is coming to an end, another school year has just ended. This school year is the second year all of the students at 5 school sites in Bao Lam district, Cao Bang province have nutritious school meals from the project “Growing up with mountainous preschool students” of For Vietnamese Stature Foundation (VSF).
Thanks to the kind help from various donors, in the past 4 months, the project “Growing up with mountainous preschool students” has continued to be implemented. Nearly 30.000 hearty nutritious boarding meals with meat and vegetables and extra meals in the afternoon (noodles, porridge) have been provided to the students at 5 school sites: Na O, Khau Noong (Thach Lam Preschool), Ban La, Sang Xoay, Khau De (Thai Son Preschool).
The project has seen rewarding results: The attendance rate of 5 school sites is 100%. 188 students attend school regularly, no one dropping out. The students are eager to go to school, although the complicated situation of the Covid-19 epidemic in recent months has caused some school sites to temporarily close and have the students stay at home for 1-2 weeks. After one year of regular schooling and eating well, students gain 1.84kg of weight and 2.86cm of height on average (the increase of weight ranges from 0.3-3kg, that of height ranges from 1-8cm).
Last but not least, in the monsoon days of May, the annual volunteer trip to visit and give gifts to the students of the 5 school sites was organised successfully. Twenty volunteers from all corners of Vietnam, some of whom are sponsors of the students, gathered together to depart for Bao Lam district, Cao Bang province from May 19 to May 21. Despite the unfavorable weather, the volunteers, along with VSF, had travelled nearly 500km (about 300 miles) of mountainous route, crossed various mountain passes and travelled 30km on motorbike on the rugged and slippery mountain trails to come to the students at the 5 remote school sites.
With the help from twenty volunteers, 188 gift sets, each including one school bag and one pair of slip-resistant rainboots, were presented to the students to encourage them on their journey to knowledge.
Moreover, in this gift-giving trip, toys, crayons, books and clothes donated by the community were also presented to 5 school sites, with the aim of helping the teachers and students here have more necessities to play and learn.
In the upcoming time, the project will continue to bring nutritious meals to the children, so that every day going school is a happy day for them.
