On Thursday, October 1, in Remansito, 600 tons of coal caught fire, causing a black smoke that covered Asunción and other surrounding areas. Because of the intensity of the wind and the extreme heat that the country experiences.
To respond to the families that were affected by the fires on Thursday, October 1, the Remansito Program delivered 300 liters of milk, 200 masks, bottles of water, food, sweets and energy drinks to the volunteer firefighters who helped to suffocate the fire. On that day, and also on Friday, October 2, we held and accompanied boys and girls to talk about their emotions. We end the meetings with a snack.
Thanks to the support of the solidarity donations received in response to the campaign promoted, we were able to help with 1800 liters of water that reached 47 families who attend the Remansito Community Center. In addition, the organization Good Neighbors Paraguay gave us 341 masks, 142 packages of ground peanuts, 141 packages of cookies and 60 puzzles for the children.
Our special thanks to the mothers of the “Unidos Avanzaremos” Committee, to the mothers of the San Isidro, San Jorge, La Esperanza and San Ramón neighborhood nuclei, to the educators and staff of the Remansito Program and also to our colleagues from Global.
