Skills training and goals for additional funding

By Billie Zuschin | Project leader

We are excited to share continued progress at the Farm to Empower community farm project in Kamanjab, Namibia.

Over the past several months, important groundwork has been completed through the leadership of local community leader Gerson Muzuma and contractor JP Moolman, with the help of local community members who have been actively involved in the project.

As fencing work progressed, JP worked alongside local workers, teaching practical construction and fencing skills while developing the farm's infrastructure. Community members participated in land clearing, digging post holes, setting posts, mixing concrete, and learning proper fence installation techniques. This approach has allowed workers to gain valuable hands-on experience while earning income and contributing directly to the project.

With a successful borehole now in place and fencing infrastructure moving forward, we are preparing for the next phase of development, including agricultural training, irrigation, greenhouse development, and food production for local families and schools.

We are also exploring a new opportunity through Namibia's Social Security Commission Development Fund (SSC-DF). If successful, this funding could help us expand skills training and employment opportunities for community members, with a focus on agriculture, entrepreneurship, and workforce development. Our hope is to create even more pathways for local residents to gain practical skills that can improve livelihoods and strengthen the community for years to come.

Thank you for helping us build more than a farm. Together, we are creating opportunity, developing skills, and growing hope in rural Namibia.

With gratitude,

Billie Zuschin
