Green SME Map is a digital tool supporting local SMEs in the Green Transition in the Fleet Street Quarter BID in London/UK. Through a visual, open-access map and dashboard, SMEs will identify sustainability trends, sector benchmarks, and funding opportunities. Environmental scoring, training sessions, and tailored guidance will empower SMEs to adopt green practices. In addition, the platform strengthens collaboration within the Fleet Street Quarter ecosystem by connecting various actors.
Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are the backbone of local economies, yet they face significant barriers in adopting environmentally sustainable practices. In Fleet Street Quarter and across the City of London, SMEs often lack: - Reliable data on their environmental performance - Access to tailored sustainability expertise - Visibility of funding opportunities and green suppliers - Strong networks for collaboration and shared learning
The project directly supports Fleet Street Quarter BID's 2022-2027 priorities of creating a "clean, green, and inclusive district": - Facilitates green infrastructure monitoring by mapping sustainable energy, waste, and mobility practices. - Encourages local circular economy through visibility of green suppliers and certified SMEs. - Strengthens place identity by showcasing local innovators and sustainable businesses, aligning with the BID's "Putting Fleet Street Back on the Map" initiative.
Through environmental data collection & visualisation: (i) SMEs can track their climate scores and compare them. (ii) The map will support FSQ's commitment by identifying emission reduction opportunities. (iii) Aggregated data will inform evidence-based policy and sustainability actions. The Green SME Map will contribute to the City's long-term economic resilience by: (i) Building a shared database. (ii) Promoting visibility and credibility of SMEs. (iii) Encouraging innovation and clustering.
