Pakistan continues to face the growing impacts of climate change, with 2026 bringing renewed concerns over extreme weather events across the country. In recent months, parts of Punjab have experienced intense heatwave conditions, with temperatures reaching dangerous levels and increasing risks to public health, livelihoods, and water resources. At the same time, authorities have warned of above-normal monsoon activity and the potential for flooding in vulnerable areas, raising concerns for communities that are still recovering from previous climate-related disasters. These recurring climate events demonstrate that climate change is no longer a future challenge it is a present reality affecting millions of Pakistanis. Rising temperatures, unpredictable rainfall patterns, water stress, and extreme weather are placing increasing pressure on communities, infrastructure, and local ecosystems. Young people, who will bear the long-term consequences of these changes, have a critical role to play in advocating for climate resilience and sustainable solutions.
Against this backdrop, the Green Ambassadors project continues to emphasize climate awareness and youth engagement. While funding constraints have prevented the implementation of planned on-ground activities and training programs, we have continued to raise awareness through our digital outreach and ongoing engagement initiatives. Through these efforts, we have highlighted the impacts of extreme heat, flood preparedness, environmental responsibility, and the importance of climate-responsive policies and governance. These activities have helped sustain interest among young people and keep climate issues visible within our networks. They have also reinforced the importance of equipping youth with the knowledge and leadership skills needed to contribute meaningfully to climate action in their communities.
Although substantial project implementation remains dependent on securing additional resources, our commitment to building youth climate leadership remains unchanged. We continue to seek opportunities to expand engagement and prepare for the launch of structured training, community outreach, and youth-led environmental initiatives once sufficient funding becomes available. Climate change is accelerating, and the need for informed, engaged, and empowered young leaders has never been greater. Your continued support helps keep this vision alive and brings us closer to enabling young Pakistanis to become effective advocates for environmental sustainability and climate resilience.
Thank you for standing with us.
Warm regards,
Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency (PILDAT)
