Challenge

Immediate relief efforts provided by this fund ensured that survivors and first responders received critical resources, including food, housing, medical aid, water, and psychosocial care. Several of GlobalGiving's local nonprofit partners are responding and have asked us to help fund relief and recovery efforts on the ground.

Solution

All donations to this fund will support the ongoing recovery and relief efforts for this earthquake in Greece. Initially, the fund will help first responders meet survivors' immediate needs for food, fuel, clean water, hygiene products, medical care, and shelter. Once those needs have been met, this fund will support longer-term recovery efforts run by local, vetted organizations in Greece.

How Your Donation Will Be Used

When you donate to GlobalGiving's Greece Earthquake Relief Fund, your donation will be used to:

  • Provide food and emergency medical supplies to people and animals
  • Support temporary relief and emergency supplies for displaced families
  • Provide support to front-line workers, like meals and gas
  • Meet other needs that emerge

About GlobalGiving’s Disaster Response

When a disaster strikes, recovery efforts led by people who live and work in affected communities are often overlooked and underfunded. GlobalGiving is changing this reality. Since 2004, we've been shifting decision-making power to crises-affected communities through trust-based grantmaking and support.

We make it easy, quick, and safe to support people on the ground who understand needs in their communities better than anyone else.

They were there long before the news cameras arrived, and they’ll be there long after the cameras leave. They know how to make their communities more resilient to future disasters, and they’re already hard at work. GlobalGiving puts donations and grants directly into their hands. Because the status quo—which gives the vast majority of funding to a few large organizations—doesn’t make sense.
