Today it’s GIVING TUESDAY!
And we thought this would be a great day to update you on the fundraiser you took part to. Thanks to you and many other donors we reach our first goal: we raised more than 5.000€ for our family homes in Italy and in the world!
This was a great milestone for us as it also granted us the possibility to keep on staying on GlobalGiving and raise more funds for our children with cancer and their families. As you can imagine the activities to be carried out are many so we are relaunching our fundraiser on this very day, which is a celebration of how donating can really change people’s lives.
Everyday in our family homes we take care of many children with cancer: only in the home in Kiev (Ukraine) from January to September we had around 70 families. One of those children is Iryna, 15 years old.
Iryna has been being treated for almost a year at the National Cancer Institute in Kiev for a rhabdomyosarcoma on the right cheek. She did not live near the city and so she moved in December 2020 to the Dacha (that’s how we call the family home in Ukraine) with her mother.
The Dacha has become for her a point of reference, a second house, so much so that now Iryna herself is busy with activities within it. In recent months she has become an expert in makeup and gives masterclasses for mothers and other girls, guests of our facility!
The courage of these children and young people with cancer always surprises us. Iryna, despite having to take care of herself, decided with her makeup lessons to take care of the others... And this is only one of many stories we could tell you!
