Gordon Clem Academy is growing slowly but surely. The government of Kenya has received the paperwork and is arriving for inspection this month. Once the Academy is part of the public school system, it wil receive teachers, books, food and some student funding. There will continue to be a need for assistance for uniforms, additional books, and school fees to cover things like water, and cooking fuel, auxiliary staff like guards and cooks but it will make it possible for many more children to attend school.
The largest capital expenditures at this time are the security fencing and two additional classrooms. The Security Fence will cost approximately $10,000 USD and each classroom is approximately $20,000 USD. This will assure space and security for the Academy from the periodic but regular tribal clashes.
The students that have received assistance have often told us how grateful they are. It is a relief to them to be able to come to school every day knowing that they will not be sent home for fees, or have to take time out from school to seek a ways to earn the funds to be allowed to return to school.
Thank you donors.
