Dear Friends,
We are happy to present our progress report of the project 'Goat for Livelihood support for Poor Women’ which started one year back by Azad India Foundation. We identify the potential women beneficiaries who have no financial support and give them goats to supplement their income.
We had given 1 pair of goats to Hamida from village Sathbolia, Block Pothia at the inception of the project. She is a divorcee deserted by her husband. She has 3 children without any steady source of income. She works as a landless labor during the time of cultivation. She diligently raised the goats and as goats multiply faster now she has now 5 goats. She says, “I am raising these goats as an investment for my children’s educational needs.”
Jhariman from the village Suhagi was also given one pair of goats. She has now 3 goats having sold one at the time of need. She feels that these goats give her sense of security as she has no other asset.
We need the funds to reach out to many more women like Hamida.
Donating now will enable us to purchase goats at a fair price and ensure that the women receive the best breed. Goats are bought locally as their chances of survival are highest in Kishanganj.
Warm Regards,
